Introduction

Welcome to my teacher website. This site serves as an online portfolio. Here you will find a snapshot of my work as a teacher of English as well as some insight into my work as an Esl Coordinator and pre-service Reading Specialist. Thank you in advance for taking the time to view this website.

My Philosophy

I believe that literature serves as a vehicle by which students can examine their lives and the world around them and learn about multiple truths of the world. Writing is not only a way to communicate technical information,  but a form of expression and critical thinking. My goal is not only to equip students with the technical skills of the language, but to ignite a passion for literature, technology, and especially for the thrill of learning.

This Year's Milestones

About Me

I was born in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master's degree in Literacy Education with a concentration on Reading Specialist preparation. I taught English I and II for five years while dually taking on the role of ESL coordinator. After an internship as a Reading Specialist, I accepted a position as a seventh and eighth grade Reading  teacher. I have most recently worked as a Bilingual and ESL Coordinator and Interventionist. My motivation for wanting to teach stemmed from my love of the subject and my desire as a young girl to teach my grandparents to read, write, and learn the English language.  I witnessed first hand the difficulty inherent in illiteracy. My goal as a teacher is to continue improving, learning, and motivating students to obtain empowerment through literacy.
